At the February meeting, Members had a fun night listening to four famous women from history telling us why they shouldn't be thrown out of a balloon as it was falling  to earth with too much weight.  Florence Nightingale, Jackie Kennedy, Edith Cavell  and Rosalind Franklin all discussed the merits of their achievements. Jackie Kennedy discussed how she had encouraged arts and culture to give added value to everyday life.  Edith Cavell explained how she was shot by a german firing squad as a spy after saving over 200 soldiers during the first world war.   Florence Nightingale was convincing in explaining how her influence meant huge changes in nursing, cleanliness and hygiene dramatically changed patients lives and Rosalind Franklin told us how she was instrumental in discovering DNA but did not get the credit for it.   Florence stayed in the balloon the longest.   Full marks to all those members who played their roles so well.
