This popular workshop, on Thursday 23rd November, was booked up very quickly. The ladies who attended seemed to have a great time and worked really hard as you will see from the photos. They were expertly taught and guided by the "garlanding" ladies who decorate the Hall for Christmas with greenery from the grounds and beyond. All the WI ladies went home with their garland - much heavier than they thought they would be. One lady thought she would be able to go to town by bus with it in her bag! No chance! No doubt their friends and families will be very impressed with their finished garlands.

About 12 ladies gathered at the Arncliffe Centre on Monday 25th September for an embroidery workshop. Glenys and Sandra too the afternoon and we sat down to a well prepared session. We each had fabric, a wooden embroidery hoop to work with and lengths of wool. Glenys demonstrated various stitches and she and Sandra whizzed round the table helping and encouraging. We each left with a piece of work well on the way to being finished and had learned many new techniques. Our work evolved which was a very liberating experience - no following of a design or pattern. Glenys and Sandra were expert teachers and as in all good 'Blue Peter' type experiences, Glenys had brought along a few "she had made earlier" for us to refer to. few of us brought along our finished work to the meeting on Tuesday to encourage more to take part in such workshops.
Apologies from the editor - this should have been posted last month...... better late than never! A small group of ladies enjoyed an afternoon's workshop with Christine and I think you'll agree, the results speak for themselves! Well done ladies!

She also surprised the group by presenting each with a custom made pinny showing the Pyjama Fairies logo. Sewing group will meet Friday 7th April then restart after the Easter break on Friday 28th April.

All items sold will have a 20% commission taken and the money raised will be donated to our sewing group for materials/machines etc. to support the work they are doing in making hospital gowns for the children's charity, Pyjama Fairies.
We invite members who would like to be involved, to make themselves known to Sandra Hepworth and Glenys Prince (07976 643129) Please note because space is limited we can only accept a limited amount of craft works. We will need to be selective so as to present a complimentary professional table.

Some WOW members have become Pyjama Fairies! Sonja talked about this sewing group project at the February monthly meeting. Sewers are making pyjamas and surgical gowns in lovely fabrics for babies and children who have to go into hospital for surgery. We are under the auspices of the charity, based in Manchester, which gives us instructions and support. We have to have our work approved to become bona fide "fairies" and then Sonja sends off our finished articles to Manchester from where they are distributed to children's hospitals. All fabric and trimmings have to be in 100% cotton and we have to use the exact patterns provided by the charity on their website. It's a fabulous project and one which the sewing group is very excited about. Like more info? Contact Sonja on 07925542602
