Tonight we had our Christmas Celebration and everyone got into the party spirit by wearing Santa hats and red cowboy hats. The atmosphere was lovely. The night started off by doing the Secret Santa where those who wish to take part bring along a gift (to the value of £5) which is put into Santa’s sack and they are issued with a raffle ticket which is exchanged when they collect their gift. It is a lovely idea and everyone who wishes to take part goes home with a gift for Christmas Day.
Jan our President had devised a Christmas quiz and everyone took part. Whilst this was happening the catering ladies had got ready all the mulled wine, tea and coffee and our wonderful Jan Crompton had baked over 100 mince pies, which were so delicious because she had used butter pastry. Everyone enjoyed a drink, mince pie and chat.
The evening finished off with the Halewood Choir singing a selection of carols. We had had them to sing to us last year and we all thought how much they had improved. Everyone got into the festive spirit and we all joined in the songs at the end. Our evening finished with Jerusalem which was much louder with the Halewood choir joining us in song.
