WOW WI has been very busy throughout 2020 and now into 2021. We thought we might be able to resume some face to face meetings in September but as we know, it couldn't happen. We started Zoom monthly meetings with a speaker in the Autumn and these are now a regular event. We have had increasing numbers of members joining in to hear our speakers:-
October - Finding my Husband's Aunt Eliza by Gwyneth Millard. A fascinating talk about family research into a most interesting person. Many members bought and read Gwyneth's book afterwards.
November - My Life as a Tiller Girl by Bez Cooper. Bez had had such an interesting life and met so many celebs over the years - wonderful to hear about her life.
December - our virtual Christmas party! First we had a lovely Christmas Floral arrangement demonstration from Christine , then we had a Christmas Quiz and a short Christmas story reading. All members had received a Selection Box through their letter box beforehand. A great occasion with a large number of members joining in.
January 21 - Astrologer Philip Heaton talked to us about his field of expertise, with fascinating insights into signs of the Zodiac
February - Antique Sidesaddle costumes by Esther Turner. This was very interesting - hardly any of us realised there was such a thing as Sidesaddle organisation and competitions. Esther showed us all her fabulous outfits that she has either made herself or obtained from many different places. She modelled many of them for us too.
So haven't we been busy from the comfort of our own homes? WOW is very much ALIVE and KICKING!!
