This meeting was the night before the national conference at the Echo Arena, so there were some absences due to this. Some members joined a social gathering at the Jurys Inn organised by Liverbirds WI.
At our meeting Derek Harold from Woolton Community Life spoke about how it supports lonely people. He asked for volunteers and explained what it involves. Some of or members are already involved in this organisation
Our guest speaker and entertainer was Douglas Eaton who talked about shows on the West End Stage and sang some songs from the shows, accompanying himself on the keyboard. From all accounts he was well received.
Members are asked to remember many future activities:
Beatles 60th Anniversary, 5-9th July at St Peter's church hall. WOW are providing refreshments on Saturday 8th July. Some ladies have volunteered to help. Donna Jackson talked about these events.
August day out - Sat 5th August to Llandudno
WOW Show Sat 9th September. Programmes will be available at July meeting
County Show pre-dinner - Tuesday 26th September. 3 course meal £23 per head. See Margaret Shaw by 7th Sept.
Christmas night out - Thursday 30th November Crowne Plaza.
LWFI 200 Club. £10 per annual ticket. See Angela Birkenhead by July meeting.
