Our Quiz Group met for the first time at Woolton Village Club on Friday, 17th May and was really successful. Sixteen Members attended and we shared the lounge with regular customers at the club. This proved to be a really good arrangement. It was lovely to join with members we had not met before and get to know each other.
The Quiz was provided by Barbara Mace and consisted of 8 rounds of 10 Questions each, on subjects as variable as Natural History, Buildings, Science and Technology and Great Britain. Our president, June Mitchell, volunteered to be the Quiz Master and kept us all in order. We also had a table quiz on ‘Toys & Games’. Most people did well at this, showing our talent for trivia or, in some cases, our age! Chocolates were awarded to the winners but were shared by all.
We discussed our future plans and decided to meet monthly. We plan to enter the National WI Quiz Competition, which takes place in January. 300 teams enter this, so it’s quite a challenge and we’re hoping to identify a strong first team. We are also considering holding a fundraising quiz in the Autumn, inviting all local WIs and perhaps some other organisations.
Next Quiz on 14th June, Woolton Village Club, Allerton Road, 7.15 pm (Quiz starts 7.30). Everyone is welcome, whether you wish to take part or just see how it goes and have an enjoyable evening.
