Although the heavens opened last Saturday morning, it didn't spoil our fun at WOW WI's 2nd Craft and Produce show. We were pleased to have Shirley Thornton, Chairman of the Lancashire WI Federation to officially open the show at 11 o'clock. Glenys's two granddaughters presented Shirley with a beautiful posy as a thannkyou. Before that a bevy of WI helpers set the hall up - it looked fantastic, with whiter than white cloths on all the tables, clear labels for each category, a table festooned with WI bunting and laden with our famous cakes and our WI Banner taking pride of place at the top end of the hall. Our committee worked really hard to plan and organise this show - many thanks to them all and to everyone who helped in any way either on the day or beforehand. The cake stall was laden with goodies and went down really well with visitors!
Well done to everyone who submitted entries to the many categories from photography and poetry, cake making and Woolton pies, knitting ad crochet, to painting and jewellery making. The children's categories were well received and the children themselves delighted with their certificates and more importantly - their sweets!
There was a group of judges, looking official wearing a single red rose. They took their roles very seriously and could be seen discussing and debating their decisions before awarding certificates for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each category.
A very well organised event bringing WOW WI into the heart of our community! Well done WOW WI.
