Back in June, we had some work done on our garden near Brown's newsagents in Woolton Village. There has been a short delay in following up this work - but early in October a working party started to clear weeds and improve the look of the garden before the winter sets in. There has been another session by members and the garden is beginning to take shape. We were amazed to find an inscribed stone on the wall of the raised bed, explaining the presence of the tree in the middle of the bed. The Woolton Society, in their inaugural year, planted an oak tree there in 1973. Since then the Society has planted a new tree in the central reservation of High Street, to enable the tree to flourish with more space. The tree in our WOW garden has suffered storm damage over the years.
